The Dryland Agroecosystems Project was a 36-year replicated agricultural experiment established in 1986 to evaluate the impacts of dryland cropping system intensification within no-till management systems through a partnership between Colorado State University and USDA-Agricultural Research Service. It was a unique long-term study in that the treatments were replicated at three sites along a north-south evapotranspiration-precipitation gradient in Eastern Colorado. Each site had replicated strips of different cropping systems across a topographical gradient (slope) and treatments ranged from traditional wheat-fallow systems to wheat-corn-fallow rotations and a variety of continuous cropping rotation systems.
The DAP has impacted dryland cropping practices across the region and supported a huge diversity of research projects.
